The Constitution Party of North Carolina statement on SB 486
CHARLOTTE (June 6th) – On June the 5th 2018 the State Senate gave final approval to Senate Bill 486. A provision which was added by State Representative David Lewis which is designed to keep candidates who lost a primary from running for the same office with a new party in November. Vice Chairman Kevin Hayes said “ While we are not arguing that point the fact of the matter is that two Political Parties ( Constitution and Green) have now started their nominating process for the 2018 elections. Changing the rules in the middle of an election is not only wrong but will be challenged in court. “ In an effort to save the taxpayers money from needless court costs The Constitution Party of North Carolina is calling on Governor Cooper to Veto Senate Bill 486.
